The Africa Twin’s advanced technology features are all about giving riders more control when traversing off-road conditions – something especially crucial given that this bike aspires to compete against some of the heavyweights of ADV world.
Apple CarPlay makes navigation straightforward and a tapered aluminum handlebar increases rider comfort in the cockpit.
Apple CarPlay
The Africa Twin is equipped with Apple CarPlay so you can use your smartphone for music, maps and messaging, voice-activated navigation or phone calls – even text read aloud through Siri while riding! Siri provides navigation assistance and phone call services while reading texts aloud for easy hands-free reading of important texts while riding.
The 1,084cc parallel-twin engine strikes an excellent balance between power and efficiency, making it suitable for use both on roads and rugged terrain. Furthermore, Honda Selectable Torque Control system helps ensure optimal traction under challenging conditions.
Both standard Africa Twin and Adventure Sports ES models feature long-travel Showa suspension to provide off-road capability, with both its front Showa fork providing 9.1 inches of travel and its rear shock delivering 8.7 inches. Furthermore, its seat foam is specifically tailored for maximum rider comfort while tool-free seat-height adjustment lets riders choose between high or low positions.
Android Auto
Android Auto provides an intelligent way of using your phone while riding an Africa Twin motorcycle. This feature enables hands-free calling, music playback and audiobook listening as well as accessing Google MapsTM all from within your bike’s infotainment system.
Lithium-ion batteries offer significant weight savings while offering extended battery charge times, providing impressive power and control while off-road, as well as increased fuel economy on highway driving.
This feature is now available on both Africa Twin models. All that’s required to activate it is a compatible smartphone and Bluetooth headset, along with a software update from your Honda dealer to make this possible. A passenger volume control function also is part of this update; Honda offers numerous accessories to customize and personalize your ride – Adventure Sports versions even feature Showa EERA electronically controlled suspension!
Adaptive Rear ABS Cancelling
In addition to its standard cruise control feature, the Africa Twin also comes equipped with Adaptive Rear ABS Cancelling technology that helps prevent rear wheel lift during braking on slippery surfaces for greater control and rider confidence.
The system operates by reading data from an IMU and analyzing front and rear wheel slip rates, and making adjustments as necessary to engine output or suppressing rear wheel lift when accelerating at maximum throttle.
A 6.5-inch TFT display provides all the information you need while riding, with settings easily selected via switchgear on the left handlebar. It also displays which ride mode has been selected. Furthermore, Adventure Sports editions come equipped with lightweight lithium-ion batteries which enhance handling and range while eliminating vulnerable hoses that could become exposed during an accident.
Cornering Light
Honda’s Africa Twin has become a favorite among adventure riders around the globe due to its combination of powerful engine, comfortable suspension and reliable chassis. Now in 2024, they have upgraded it further with numerous innovations.
A 6.5-inch color touchscreen Multi-Information Display features Apple CarPlay compatibility as well as rider aids such as wheelie control, cornering ABS, rear lift control and D-mode with sporty shift patterns on applicable DCT versions. Furthermore, mode switching capability enables you to change your riding settings at will.
Both manual-transmission and DCT Africa Twin models boast a steel semi-double cradle frame designed with optimized rigidity/flex characteristics for challenging conditions like carrying luggage or riding two up. Its pivot plates are made from 600MPa high strength steel; while its aluminum clutch center and pressure plate use assist cams for light lever feel.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth technology enables riders to easily link their smartphone with the Africa Twin for music and navigation apps on the road, along with easy hands-free calling capabilities.
Lithium-ion batteries reduce spring mass while holding their charge four times longer than traditional models, providing fully adjustable front and rear suspension with 24 points of preload adjustment and USER riding mode for personalized damping settings.
Steel semi-double-cradle frame designed to maximize rigidity and flex, providing agile handling on rough terrain. A 5.0 gallon fuel tank and tube-type wheels help provide ample range, while large dual purpose tires offer great traction both on pavement and off-road paths. A tall accessory handlebar opens up the cockpit for ergonomic rider ergonomics.
